150 Ton Gantry Crane Rehabilitiation—Box Canyon Dam, WA

Dix Corporation was awarded the contract to upgrade the powerhouse gantry intake crane at Box Canyon Dam, located on the Pend Oreille River. The work included new travel/hoist controls, new operator cab and equipment room, replacement of all wiring, refurbishment of the travel/hoist gearbox, hoist motor and brakes. Additional work included refurbishing bull gears from the drums for the main auxiliary hoist, new wire rope, upper and lower gearbox covers and the crane was load tested. All work was completed to meet the current codes and standard as directed by the specification.
