150 Ton Gantry Crane Rehabilitiation—Box Canyon Dam, WA

Dix was awarded the contract to upgrade the powerhouse 140 ton gantry crane at box Canyon Dam, located on the Pend Oreille River. Dix was awarded the contract to upgrade the powerhouse 140 ton gantry crane at box Canyon Dam, located on the Pend Oreille River.  The work included new hoist controls, new operator cab and equipment room, replacement of all wiring, refurbishment of the travel/hoist gearbox, hoist motor and brakes.  Additional work included refurbishing bull gears from the drums for the main auxiliary hoist, new wire ropes, upper and lower gearbox covers and the crane was load tested.
