Disassembly and Removal of One 500-Ton Press and One 400-Ton Press

Dix Corporation recently disassembled, jacked, moved and loaded out these two hydraulic presses at this East Spokane lighting manufacturing facility. The smaller press weighed 122,000 lbs and the larger press weighed 270,000 lbs. Space around the presses was very constrained. The jacking process included 2 engineered beams, 4 self-climbing hydraulic jacks and 10 stacks of ekki wood cribbing. The main components of the presses were moved 40 to 60 feet across the shop floor on Hillman rollers. Dix utilized a 125 ton mobile crane to hoist and precisely position the press components on trucks provided by the customer.
