Removable Spillway Weir—Lower Granite Dam

The original Removable Spillway Weir was supplied and installed by Dix in 2002 and 2003 at Lower Granite Lock and Dam. Dix had the 1200-ton RSW fabricated in Vancouver, WA and transported by barge and tug through eight locks to Lower Granite Dam on the Snake River. Dix installed all necessary support structures 120 ft underwater in the forebay of Spillway #1 prior to receiving the RSW. Dix installed the floating steel weir using ballast, anchors and underwater rigging. We also provided and installed a sophisticated PLC control system for RSW operation.
